NITRO

July 1, 2012 By Sally Martin 9 Comments

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

NITRO is (legacy) Nielsen software for analysis and reporting. To our knowledge, there are no longer any clients using this software.

NITRO provides database access through Microsoft Excel.  Operates as a sub-program within Excel so user has access to Nielsen data surrounded by the familiarity and power of the regular Excel environment.  NITRO stands for Nielsen Interface To Office.  Comparable to IRI’s XLerate software.

All the IRI and Nielsen software allows you to work within Office or export data in Office compatible format. Nitro is actually now legacy software. New Nielsen clients who have a database subscription would be using a web interface called Nielsen Answers which has export capabilities. Individual reports are still delivered in Excel. For more details on the software, contact Nielsen or IRI for information or a demo.

Is there a demo version of Nitro to try out?

I’m pretty sure there is not. Nielsen has been phasing out that tool over the last couple of years and transitioning clients to Nielsen Answers, their online portal. As far as I know, no new clients have gotten NITRO in a few years now.

    Correction,
NITRO stands for Nielsen Interface to Range Object.

Definitely check with your Nielsen client service rep or the Nielsen Help Desk on this. Unfortunately we are not experts in the technical aspects of the tools. Nielsen is phasing out Nitro so there may be a compatibility issue with your version of Excel. I would not be surprised if Nitro does not work with the most recent versions of Excel.
